Humanity Network in Uganda works with vulnerable and underserved communities in Uganda, focusing on improving access to health services, education, protection, and opportunities for children, adolescents, women, and other vulnerable groups. Our work prioritises communities facing poverty, inequality, violence, and limited access to essential services.

Northern Uganda

Northern Uganda is one of the regions most affected by Uganda’s prolonged conflict, which lasted for approximately 30 years and left deep social and economic challenges. Children, women, families, and communities—particularly in the Acholi sub-region—continue to experience the long-term effects of displacement, poverty, trauma, limited services, and vulnerability.

Humanity Network works to support vulnerable communities to recover, rebuild resilience, and access opportunities for a healthier and more secure future.

Acholi Sub-region

The Acholi sub-region is home to the Acholi people and comprises eight districts and Gulu City: Agago, Amuru, Gulu, Kitgum, Lamwo, Nwoya, Omoro, and Pader, together with Gulu City.

The region has a large young population and continues to face significant challenges affecting children, adolescents, women, and vulnerable households. Humanity Network focuses on strengthening community health, child protection, education, empowerment, and social support.

Gulu City

Gulu City is a major urban centre in Northern Uganda and serves as an important hub for communities across the Acholi sub-region. Humanity Network focuses on some of the city's most pressing social challenges, including teenage pregnancy and motherhood, domestic violence, poverty, child vulnerability, and limited access to essential services.

Our interventions aim to empower adolescent girls and women, protect vulnerable children, strengthen families, and improve access to health and social support services.

Our work is community-driven, locally led, and focused on reaching people who need support most.

👥 Communities Reached

Humanity Network currently reaches 11 communities across our areas of operation, working directly with vulnerable children, adolescents, women, families, and other community members.

Through our programmes, we work alongside communities to identify their priorities, strengthen local solutions, and create sustainable change.

📍 Current Project Location

– Pece-Laroo

Pece-Laroo is our current project location in Gulu City. Humanity Network is implementing community-based interventions aimed at improving the wellbeing and protection of vulnerable children, adolescent girls, teenage mothers, women, and families.

Our presence in Pece-Laroo enables us to work closely with community members and local stakeholders to identify needs, deliver practical support, and build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Humanity Network in Uganda was born from a real community experience that revealed the urgent need for stronger support systems for vulnerable people.

In 2023, our Executive Director, Juliana Kifola, encountered a 16-year-old teenage mother living in extreme vulnerability.

The young girl had dropped out of school after becoming pregnant. Instead of receiving protection and support, she was rejected by her family and forced into an unsafe living situation.

Without adequate support, she experienced abuse, poverty and isolation. Living in a remote community, she had limited access to antenatal care and eventually delivered her baby at home, exposing both mother and child to life-threatening risks.

When Juliana met her, she was weak, suffering and without hope.

Through compassion and immediate support, Juliana helped her access medical care, and ensured that the baby received essential vaccination services.

This experience became a turning point.

It created a vision of an organization that would not only respond to individual suffering but also address the deeper causes of vulnerability through:
